Tabitha Silk

Look out for us at the "Summer in Singapore" Fashion show at the Hilton on the 30th May, where we will be selling a small, select range of items. We will be back with a full calendar of sales and beautiful silk products from September.

Events in May

We have had a number of very successful events over the last few weeks as our activities wind down for the Northern hemisphere holidays:

China Collection Silk Fair May 2014

Our last large silk fair before the holidays was held at China Collection in early May. Sincere thanks to Anne, Rob and Doug for not only letting us "take over the premises" for three days, but also for the hosting of a wine tasting by Benchmark Wines -  what better way to end the sale! We were delighted to sell just under $45k of beautiful silk products which means that the seamstresses in Cambodia will be busy over the next few months creating more gorgeous things for us to sell in September. Thanks again to China Collection, Benchmark Wines, customers and volunteers.

French Table sale May 2014

Our Tabitha silk products were also available at an open house hosted by My Gem Workshop; thank you ladies for inviting us. We sold $3,250 of silk products, again helping to ensure continued work and a rise in overall standard of living for our seamstresses in Cambodia.

Singapore American School (SAS)

Last month we received over $6,000 from Grade 6 SAS students, who were raising funds for water. A fantastic effort!

On Saturday 17th May, 23 girls from SAS undertook a 28km Walk for Water from Woodlands to Sentosa to raise money for water installations for Tabitha.  Bryanna Entwistle, Sabrina Sain and Sophie Wirt, embarked on their first Walk for Water last year, when they raised $4,000. This year they had 19 friends join them for the 28km walk.  The girls braved torrential storms as well as blistering heat and raised a phenomenal $10,000, which is enough to build more than 50 wells. Thank you so much to all the girls who participated, you really are an inspiration. Janne's reaction from Cambodia when she heard the news "I must meet these girls!"

Australian International School (AIS)

During a talk to the team of students who will go house building later this year, Tabitha volunteers where both surprised and delighted to be presented with a cheque for $10,000 for the Nokor Tep Women's Hospital.  Student speakers, Gwen Sim and Jack Chou, from the previous year's housebuilding team, handed over the cheque.  Thank you so much students and teachers - what a wonderful gift.  Janne Ritskes response when she heard - "What a wonderful way to end my day. Please say thanks so much. Wow!"

Earlier in the month we held our annual Tabitha Mother's Day sale at AIS.  We really appreciate teacher, parent and pupil support for this event.  It is always a popular sale and this year was no exception - we raised an amazing $22k - and hopefully there were lots of happy mothers on Sunday the 11th May!
